Olympian – Woman in Camisole II
Left atop the bar
The Olympics come to an end.
Each Olympian took his shot
Each Olympian battle lost.
Her feet may have been grazed by
Men soaring nearer to her thigh.
As their pole broke below,
Or they collided into the crossbar
Each man took vault toward the
Woman in Camisole.
She sits
Atop that crossbar.
That careful line.
Feet floating in the wind,
Hair shielding her downhearted face.
At this elevation the air becomes thin
And above these clouds,
The stars can be seen
Where night sets in.
Continuing to watch
She looks down at the world.
And continues to watch
The near victorious man departing.
Barely seen was she by these champion souls.
And she knew she might
Sit and wait, for yet another Olympics day.
But deserted she felt,
And from Olympian
Into those milky clouds
It was she that decided
To walk away.
